THE BOLDS GO GREEN
The Bolds’ Final Installment
Give a hoot and don't pollute!
The Bolds have decided to do their bit for the planet and go green. They're reducing, reusing and recycling as much as they can. Not all of their eco-friendly ideas are welcome, though - especially when it comes to 'watering' the neighbours' front garden with wee . . .
An eventful trip to the charity shop leads to a new rescue adventure for the Bold family, and an old friend returns with an unexpected list of demands. Can the Bolds keep their cool as temperatures rise?
Mr and Mrs Bold are just like you and me: they live in a nice house (in Teddington), they have jobs (like writing Christmas cracker jokes) and they love to have a bit of a giggle. One slight difference: they're hyenas. Yes, that's right - they're covered in fur, have tails tucked into their trousers, and they really, really like to laugh.
So far, the Bolds have managed to keep things under wraps, even when their children Bobby and Betty were born. But the nosy man next door smells a rat (or a hyena), and a trip to the local wildlife park, and the brilliantly wacky heist that results, could be the end of Teddington's best-kept secret. Whatever will the neighbours think?
For children aged 8 and above.
Julian says:
"I wanted to write a children's BOOK to relive the thrill I used to get as a child entering a fictional world. The idea came from stories I used to make up for myself as a child, and I grew up in Teddington " a very suburban place with tree-lined streets and a nice park " so it seemed right and proper to set it there. I am thrilled to have the wonderful illustrator David Roberts bring The Bolds to life for me. He has the ability to convey my humour brilliantly and his drawings are always funny and endearing. Mrs Bold's hats are a particular delight!"
Julian Clary selected for World Book Day
Julian Clary joined a stellar line-up of authors representing World Book Day 2018. Following the huge success of his children's series, The Bolds, Julian wrote a special story about his much-loved hyena family, which sees them move across the ocean from African safari park to England.
World Book Day, which aims to encourage children and young people to read for pleasure, took place on 1 March 2018 with various events leading up to the big day.
